Jim Streety, NBISD Athletic Director, joins 2019 Class of the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame

Jim Streety, the current New Braunfels ISD Athletic Director, will be inducted into the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame during a reception and dinner scheduled for March 9 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.


Streety will be inducted in the Class of 2019 along with the following individuals: Bruce Collie, a former NFL Player and Lee High School graduate; Malik Rose, former San Antonio Spurs player; and Dr. David R. Schmidt, an orthopaedic surgeon and team physician for the San Antonio Spurs.


The event serves as a fundraiser for San Antonio Sports and includes an auction and live performance after the dinner and awards program.


In 2014, Streety returned to New Braunfels ISD to serve as the district’s first Athletic Director. His 343 career wins as a football coach rank him fifth all-time in Texas high school football. In his 40-year career, he coached two teams: New Braunfels High School (149-46-2 in 17 years) and Madison High School (194-85-1 in 23 years). His teams made the playoffs 26 times, with seven of those teams making it to the state semifinals.


He has served on the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Board of Directors, has been on the South All-Star Selection Committee, has been a lecturer at THSCA Coaching School, was the South All-Star Coach in 1988, served as THSCA President in 1989-90, was inducted into the THSCA Hall of Honor in 1999 and the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
