NBISD honors employee who saves boy from choking

On Dec. 20, the NBISD administration and members from the Board of Trustees recognized Randi Reed, an employee at Walnut Springs Elementary, for her heroic efforts earlier this month. During her normal lunch duty, she performed the Heimlich maneuver on first-grader Jaxon Holder who was choking while eating his lunch. She was honored this morning with a serenade by the school choir and was presented with a poinsettia plant and a bundtlet tower donated by Nothing Bundt Cakes.

“We are very thankful for Mrs. Reed's quick action in such an emergent situation,” said Kara Butcher, the school nurse. “She is a great asset to the Walnut Springs Team and is loved by staff and students.”
