100th day of school initiative benefits local senior citizens

First graders at Klein Road Elementary celebrated the 100th day of school by collecting more than 300 items to benefit New Braunfels Serving Our Seniors (NBSOS). On Feb. 3, the students and teachers presented the donated goods to a small group of representatives from NBSOS.

The entire first grade class worked together on this initiative dubbed “100 Acts of Kindness.” The goal to collect 100 items was quickly surpassed with a stockpile of more than 300 toiletries and games ready for distribution to the local senior citizens.

Brinda Soto leads the first grade team of seven classes that participated in the collection drive.

“We wanted to teach our kids that any act of kindness no matter how big or small can make a difference - and it feels good doing it,” said Soto. “It was a fabulous project!”

NBSOS is a local non-profit that provides necessities and social opportunities to local senior citizens.
