Unicorn Swimmers headed to State!

The 2018 Regional swim meet was held Feb 2-3 at NEISD’s Josh Davis Natatorium.
 
The girls relay team was not able to advance after the preliminary races held on Friday. Keep swimming girls and congratulations on qualifying; you all have another chance next year!
 
The boys team qualified for state and brought home several medals along with breaking a few long-standing high school records.
 
The boys team of Isaac Barrera, Cole Bruns, Will Malatek and Zach Rodeffer shaved off two seconds from the high school record in the 200 yard freestyle relay and brought home the gold, qualifying the team for State.
 
In the 400 freestyle relay, the team broke the old high school record by full five seconds, brought home a silver medal and qualified for the State tournament for a second event.
 
Isaac Barrera and Cole Bruns both medaled and qualified for State in individual events.
 
Isaac Barrera won Gold in the 100 butterfly and won gold in the 200 freestyle.
 
Cole Bruns won silver in the 100 freestyle breaking the high school record from 2006. He also won bronze in the 50 freestyle and re-broke the high school record. He will receive a call-up for the State meet in this event.

The State meet will be held on Friday, Feb 16 and Saturday, Feb 17 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center at the University of Texas at Austin.

Student ticket prices are $7 per session, Adult tickets are $12 per session or you may purchase an all-meet ticket for $30. Tickets will go on sale one hour prior to the session. Ticket sales will be CASH or CHECK ONLY.
 
NFHS Network will provide a live webcast of the 2018 UIL Swimming & Diving State Championship Finals on Saturday, Feb. 17 from the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center on the University of Texas at Austin campus.
 
Fans, family and alumni unable to attend the UIL Swimming & Diving finals on Saturday can watch live online with a subscription on http://www.nfhsnetwork.com/associations/uil.

Subscribers can also watch on the go by downloading the NFHS Network app for iPhone and Android Devices.
 
The live webcast will begin on NFHSNetwork.com on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 9:30 a.m. with 5A finals and continue at 3:30 pm for 6A finals.
