NBISD summer feeding program begins June 4

New Braunfels ISD announced its policy today for providing free meals for children under the age of 18 through the Healthy Summer Meals for Kids Program. This program will be available at two NBISD schools for anyone under the age of 18 in the community.

 

Starting on June 4, NBISD will begin its Healthy Summer Meals for Kids program at Lone Star Early Childhood Center, located at 2343 W. San Antonio St.

 

On June 11, New Braunfels High School, located at 2551 Loop 337 N, will start its Summer Feeding Program. Breakfast will be served Monday-Thursday from 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. and lunch from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Both programs will remain operational through June 28, 2018.

 

The New Braunfels Food Bank will park their food trucks at Lone Star Early Childhood Center and New Braunfels High School after the summer feeding programs ends to extend meal service to the community. They will operate from June 29 through July 31 for lunch only. They will serve lunch at the Lone Star location from 11 a.m. until noon and at NBHS from noon until 1 p.m.

 

“All children under the age of 18 can go to either location for the NBISD summer feeding program,” said Ashley West, NBISD assistant director of child nutrition. “Regardless of what site they visit, we will serve portions according to age.”
