The New Braunfels ISD voters passed the $118.3 million bond referendum held on November 6, 2018. The majority of the funding will be used to build a new middle school and a new elementary school for growth. Additional funding included in this bond will be used to enhance school safety and security as well as provide upgrades and additions to existing facilities.

The election drew 68 percent in favor and 32 percent against the bond proposition. A total of 10,460 voters were in favor of the bond and 4,873 against. A total of 15,333 ballots were cast.

“We are very grateful to the community for supporting this bond that will address our most immediate needs,” said Randy Moczygemba, NBISD superintendent of schools. “The projects included in this bond program will benefit our youth and our community for decades to come.”

NBISD’s plans to get started right away on some of the bond projects to make sure they are ready on time and on budget, Moczygemba added.

The official language on the bond referendum ballot was:

“The issuance of up to $118,341,000 of bonds by the New Braunfels Independent School District for school facilities and the levying of tax in payment thereof.”
