NBHS cheerleaders compete in UIL Spirit State Championships

The New Braunfels High School Cheerleaders competed in the annual UIL Spirit State Championships on Jan. 19 at the Fort Worth Convention Center and placed 14th overall out of 56 teams in the 6A Division II category.

As part of the two-step competition, the team competed in the preliminary round that consisted of three separate routines – a band dance, a fight song and a crowd-leading cheer. NBHS made it to the finals that consisted of one routine, which combines all three elements into a three-minute performance.

This is the third year that NBHS has participated in the UIL Spirit State Championships for high school spirit groups.

“The NBHS Cheer Team had a great time at the UIL competition,” said Danielle Richter, NBHS cheer sponsor. “The girls worked extremely hard to earn a spot for finals with many 6 a.m. and after-school practices. We learn a lot every year and always hope to make improvements for the next year.”
