2019 SUMMER SCHOOL

Information on NBISD's 2019 Summer School programs and summer camps is now available in the links outlined below. Registration will begin May 6, 2019, for Summer School and the EOC Academy. Registration for the Bilingual/ESL Summer School session begins immediately. Registration forms are available below and at all NBISD campuses.

  • Open to any English Learner (EL) student who will be in Kindergarten or 1st grade in the 2019-2020 school year. Summer school will be held at Carl Schurz Elementary beginning Tuesday, June 4th -Thursday, June 27th from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  The first week will be Tuesday through Thursday. The remaining three weeks will be Monday thru Thursday (no school on Fridays. Breakfast and lunch will be served. There is no cost to the student.

    Abierto a cualquier estudiante English Learner que estará en Kindergarten o 1er grado en el año escolar 2019-2020. La escuela de verano se llevará a cabo en el Carl Schurz Elementary a partir del martes 4 de junio al jueves 27 de junio de 7:30 a.m. a 3:30 p.m. La primera semana será de martes a jueves. Las tres semanas restantes serán de lunes a jueves (no habrá clases los viernes). Se servirán desayunos y almuerzos. No hay costo para el estudiante.

     
  • Open to any 5th grade student who needs accelerated instruction to meet passing requirements for 5th Grade Reand and/or Math STAAR exams. Classes will be held at Carl Schurz Elementary. Session will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. June 10-June 27 (no classes on Friday). There is no cost to the parent/student.
     

    STAAR Retest Dates: Math  - June 25

                                        Reading - June 26


    Applications will be provided by the campus.

  • Open to any 8th grade student who needs accelerated instruction to pass the Reading and/or Math STAAR exams. Classes will be held at the NBHS 9th Grade Center. Session will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. June 10-June 27 (no Friday classes will be held). There is no cost to the parent/student.

                                        Reading - June 26


    Testing will be at the 9th Grade Center

  • Open to any 8th grade student needing accelerated instruction for Algebra I. Classes will be held at NBHS 9th Grade Center in two sessions. Session 1 will run from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and Session 2 will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. June 10-20 (no Friday classes will be held). There is no cost to the parent/student.

    Please fill out the EOC Academy Registration Form included in the 2019 Secondary Summer School Application packet.

     

    EOC Algebra I Retesting dates: June 24-27. Testing will be at New Braunfels High School.

  • Open to any 8th -12th grade student needing accelerated instruction for Algebra I, Biology, US History, English I, or English II. Classes will be held at NBHS 9th Grade Center in two sessions. Session 1 will run from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and Session 2 will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. from June 10-20 (no Friday classes will be held). There is no cost to the parent/student.

    EOC Retesting Dates: English I - June 24

                                         English II - June 26

                                         Algebra, Biology, US History - June 24-27

     

    Testing will be at New Braunfels High School.

     
  • Open to any 9th - 12th grade student who needs to repeat a failed class or who wants to get ahead in their credits.Classes will be held at NBHS 9th Grade Center from June 10 - 27 (no Friday classes will be held) with two sessions offered. Session 1 will run from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Session 2 will run from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. There is a cost for High School Summer School. Please see the Secondary Application and Handbook for tuition fees. 

     

    *The afternoon session must have at least 10 paid registrants or the session will be cancelled.

New Braunfels ISD announced its policy today for providing free meals for children under the age of 18 through the Healthy Summer Meals for Kids Program. This program will be available at two NBISD schools for anyone under the age of 18 in the community.


Starting on June 4, NBISD will begin its Healthy Summer Meals for Kids program at Carl Schurz Elementary, located at 633 W. Coll Street and at the NBHS 9th Grade Center, located at 659 S. Guenther.


Breakfast will be served Monday-Thursday from 7:00 - 8:00 a.m. and lunch from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Both programs will remain operational through June 27, 2019.


“All children under the age of 18 can go to either location for the NBISD summer feeding program,” said Ashley West, NBISD assistant director of child nutrition. “Regardless of what site they visit, we will serve portions according to age.”
