Parking and Directions


Parking for the event is in the large lot next to Strahan Arena (formerly Strahan Coliseum), but has limited access. The guarded lot off of Charles Austin Drive is available for limited mobility parking.

and the New Braunfels ISD YouTube channel. The video is also available for purchase on DVD by calling (830) 643-5780 or by emailing info@nbisd.org


Event Guidelines

Graduates are being asked to arrive and report to the auxiliary gym at Strahan no later than 6:15 p.m. All bags are subject to search upon entry. Bullhorns, whistles, beach balls, balloons, etc. will not be permitted in the venue. Confetti and streamers are also not permitted on the Texas State University campus. Handicap seating is available on the ground floor, but is limited.

Ceremony Program

Nearly 600 high school graduates will walk the stage on May 30 during the New Braunfels High School Commencement Ceremony. The Master of Ceremonies for the graduation ceremony will be Luke Bird, the student body president. The ceremony will feature the Top 10 graduates from the class in several speaking roles including the opening sentiments, graduation address, and closing sentiments. This year’s salutatorian, Ethan Venegoni, will also give an address followed by the valedictorian, Skylar Vestal.

Skylar Vestal

Skylar Vestal is the valedictorian for the New Braunfels High School Class of 2019. He is a three-year member and founder of the Creative Coding Club that teaches students how to program using Art, and a three-year member of the NBHS Uil Academics team placing first in chemistry state wide in 2 virtual tests. He is a three-year member of the NBHS Science Olympiad and current President and a three-year member and club leader and future mentor of the CyberPatriot Club where he participated in the highest tier of competition. He has spent one year self studying pre-calculus, multi-variable calculus and he is currently studying differential equations. Vestal has spent four years on the STEM YouTube Channel “dinoswerleafs” with 55,000 subscribers and spent one year programming free SAT testing engine for open source access. He is enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin for computer science while waiting on the waitlist admissions from Rice University and Cornell University. He hopes to eventually become a professor of computer science in artificial intelligence while incorporating other disciplines of chemistry, physics and math for future research. He is the son of Charles Vestal. 

Ethan Venegoni

Ethan Venegoni is the salutatorian for the New Braunfels High School Class of 2019. He has been a member of the NBHS Varsity Tennis Team for three years and is the current Captain of the team. He qualified for Regional Tennis tournament in 2018 and 2019 in boys doubles, and was selected for Academic All-District for 2017-18, and Academic 1st Team All-District in 2018. He is also a two-year member of the National Honor Society, serving at this year's Secretary. Ethan is a four-year member of the Springs Community Church Youth Group and he has volunteered at both the Comal County Senior Citizens Group and the Westside Community Center for the past three years, and for the Salvation Army since 2015. He is planning on attending Abilene Christian University to study engineering. He is the son of Dannett Venegoni & Jeff Venegoni.
