During the month of October, the students, faculty and staff of NBISD are showing their support for Breast Cancer Awareness by wearing pink at various school events.
The NBHS Student Council is selling Pink Out shirts as a fundraiser to donate to either the National Breast Cancer Foundation or Susan G. Komen. The home varsity volleyball game on Oct. 6 versus Canyon was designated as the team’s Pink Out game and the Oct. 20 varsity football game against East Central has been designated as this year’s Pink Out football game.
The athletic teams and cheerleaders are also adding pink to their uniforms this month and various organizations are hosting Pink Out events.
You will also see a number of the other campuses designating a Pink Out day during October. Check with you child’s school to find out more details.
According to www.cancer.org, Breast Cancer Awareness Month was created to honor survivors, remember those lost to the disease, and to support the progress being made to defeat breast cancer. The color pink is worn to honor survivors.
