A total of 11 members from the New Braunfels High School (NBHS) Choir were selected for one of the Texas Music Educators Association’s (TMEA) region mixed choirs after the regional auditions were held on Oct. 14. Below are the results of the auditions:

The students will perform with the region choirs on Nov. 11 at Alamo Heights High School.
Two of these students earned the right to advance to the Pre-Area round of auditions. Both earned the right to advance by ranking in the top 10 of their section. Grace Shafer (below to left), a freshman, ranked 8th in the Soprano 2 Section and Savanna Pack (below to right), a junior, ranked 1st in the Soprano 2 Section.
“We had a record number of students participate in the auditions and a record number of Unicorns make the Region Choir,” said Chris Thomasson, NBHS choir director. “I am extremely proud of how our Unicorn Choir students handled themselves in the midst of the extreme pressure of the auditions.”
Pre-Area Auditions will be held on Nov. 28 at Churchill High School in San Antonio. In order to advance to Area, the students must rank in the top 4 at Pre-Area.
