Susan Peery has been named the new Lone Star Early Childhood Center Principal.

New Braunfels ISD Administration is excited to announce that Susan Peery has been named principal of Lone Star Early Childhood Center. Peery is currently serving as Interim Assistant Principal at Carl Schurz Elementary. She will begin her new role on July 25.

“After 40 years of education experience, I am excited that my career journey has led me to serve as principal of Lone Star Early Childhood Center here in New Braunfels ISD,” Peery said. “I have missed serving as a campus principal and I am so thankful to serve this community. I feel honored to work with the new team to provide a positive start to education for our youngest learners.”

Peery brings 40 years of education experience to NBISD. She began her career in education as a Head Start teacher in West Virginia. She soon relocated to Texas, where she gained several more years of experience as an early education teacher, a literacy specialist, and an early literacy coach. In 2001, she began her path to leadership by serving as Assistant Principal at Candlewood Elementary in Judson ISD. She has since gained 20 years of experience as a principal in San Antonio area school districts, the last seven of those being at Howard Early Childhood Center in Alamo Heights ISD.

In addition to a Master’s Degree in Reading, Peery also holds a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Trinity University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary/Early Education from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Peery holds Texas Educator certifications as a Principal, a Kindergarten teacher and an Elementary teacher.

Peery boasts several achievements, some of her most notable include TESPAN of the Year, awarded by Region 20 for 2015-2016 and Best Small School District in Texas, awarded by H-E-B in 2017.

Peery is the proud mother of two grown daughters, who both hold Master’s degrees.  Her oldest daughter, Emily, was recognized this year as the Judson ISD teacher of the year and received the Trinity Prize for Excellence.  Ashley is an accountant with Ernst & Young and lives in Houston.

“Although Ms. Peery has only served NBISD for a short while, her passion for education has not gone unnoticed. We are excited she is bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to our administration team,” NBISD interim superintendent Dr. Jim Largent said. “I am confident she is going to have a positive impact on our efforts to provide an exceptional early education experience for the students of our community.”
