Students attend classroom daily.
Step 1:
Schedule appointment with DPS for Learner License Written Exam.
this must be done immediately to ensure timely completion of course.
Learner's Permit must be complete prior to the driving portion of the class.

Parent must make an appointment ASAP for Texas Department of Public Safety in New Braunfels or nearby city for their student to take the Learner License Written Exam.

A student must be 15 years old by June 3, 2024 in order to participate in the Summer 2024 NBISD Driver Education Course.

Texas Driver Education Handbook
The Texas Driver Education Handbook can be accessed here.
As of September 1, 2013, parents must drive 30 hours with their child and log the information on the provided Texas Education Agency Log. Please read the information on the 2nd page of the log and the guide provided.
Documents needed when your student goes to DPS office for testing:
- Verification of birth date, social security number, and supporting form of ID
- Acceptable documentation for birth date includes: Original or certified copy of a US Department of State Certification of Birth/court order with name and birth date
- Acceptable documentation of social security number includes: Original social security card or health card (if member # represents social security number)
- Acceptable documentation for supporting form of ID includes: Current semester report card, school transcript, or school ID card
- 2. Verification of Enrollment form, obtained from student’s HS attendance office
- 3. Proof of residency (utility bill, gas bill, mortgage agreement, lease agreement, and/or notarized letter from landlord)
- 4. 30-Hour Behind-The-Wheel Instruction Log (if taking the driving test)
- 5. Certificate of Completion of Impact Texas Teen Drivers course (if taking the driving test)
