2023 Graduation Information

Will there be a professional photographer at the ceremony? 
Yes, Flash Photography will be taking pictures during graduation. Graduates will complete in information card the day of graduation and will need to have the following information at that time: Mailing address, phone number and two email addresses (not your school email, as it will be deactivated upon graduation).  You will receive proofs in the mail about two weeks after graduation.  For any questions, you may call Flash Photography at (817) 924-2626.

Are students required to be in dress code?  
Yes. Students should dress cool and within the NBISD dress code.   Students should arrive for graduation with graduation gown on a hanger.  Students should not bring anything to the ceremony other than their cap, gown, stoles, and cords if applicable.  

Are graduates allowed to use cell phones during the ceremony? 
No. Cell phones should be left with family members or be turned off during the ceremony.  Students will not be allowed to use cell phones during the ceremony. 

Can graduates decorate their caps?
No. We ask that our graduates not decorate their graduation caps.  

When will graduates receive diplomas?
Diplomas will be distributed immediately after the ceremony.  Instructions for diploma pick up will be provided during graduation practice. 
 
Are noise makers allowed? 
No.  Noise makers distract from the ceremony.  We want to ensure all graduate names are heard throughout the stadium.   Noise makers prevent this from happening. 

Can guests bring water to the ceremony? 
Yes. Guests will be allowed to bring in one bottle of water.   Project Graduation will be selling water at the ceremony as a fundraiser for next year’s events.   All graduates will be provided water during the ceremony.  

Are tickets required to enter Unicorn Stadium for graduation? 
No.  One of the advantages of hosting graduation at Unicorn Stadium is the capacity of the stadium is 10,000 spectators. During the previous two graduations, seating was limited due to CDC and TEA restrictions related to COVID. At this time, we are able to occupy the stadium at 100% capacity.

With that being said, we will NOT be using tickets to limit the number of guests per students. Based on the number of graduates and a seating capacity of 10,000, IF we were issuing tickets, each graduate would be given sixteen tickets. 

Again, we are NOT issuing tickets, but we would ask our families to be mindful of others and if at all possible limit the number of guests to approximately sixteen guests per graduate. As we all know, this is a very important milestone for each of our graduates and their families. We are asking everyone to respectful of others and not to exceed this number of guests, if at all possible so all family members wishing to attend can be there in support of their graduate.

How many parking passes will graduates receive? 
Each graduate/family will be issued two parking passes.  You will not be allowed to park on campus without the pass.  The graduate should ride with family due to limited parking on campus.  Parking lots can be accessed off Loop 337 at the light by the apartment complex next to NBHS and Ohio Street.  The main entrance to NBHS will be closed for this event.  The entrance by the baseball field will be used for handicap parking and VIP parking only.

Will a sign language interpreter be available for our hearing-impaired guest? 
Yes.  There will be a designated area on the home side of the stadium. 

Will there be handicap parking available? 
Yes.  There is be a designated areas to accommodate those in need of handicap parking.   This area will be located near the NBHS Field House.  If a person has a disabled placard/license plate along with the NBHS Graduation Parking Pass they should enter the campus using the entrance near the baseball field. 

Will there be overflow parking?
Yes.  Guests are invited to use the Oakwood Baptist Church Parking lot as a remote parking lot.   The NBISD Transportation Department will provide shuttle service between the church and NBHS starting at 6:30 p.m.  The last shuttle from NBHS will depart at 10:30.  A handicap accessible bus will be provided to shuttle those guests in need who use the Oakwood parking lot. 

What happens in the case of inclement weather? 
If the ceremony scheduled for May 25 has inclement weather, New Braunfels ISD officials will render the decision to move the scheduled time or postpone until Friday, May 26. Announcements of this change will be made to all parents and graduates.   

How do we request a copy of my final high school transcript? 
Final transcripts will be available beginning on June 21.  Transcripts can be requested using the following link:

Students can place an order for a transcript through Parchment prior to June 21, but should select “hold for grades”.  By selecting this option, the transcript will not be fulfilled until all grades are finalized and transcript complete. 

Will students be able to leave their vehicle in the NBHS parking lot during the Project Graduation event? 
Yes. Students will be allowed to leave their vehicles at NBHS, however the parking lot will not be secured or monitored. Please do not leave any valuables in your vehicle and make sure that it is locked before you leave. Students will also be allowed into the building after graduation to change clothes before leaving for EVO Entertainment.

The venue address is located at 2551 Loop 337, New Braunfels, Texas 78130 .  All vehicles must enter the parking lot at the designated entry points along Loop 337 near the traffic light or on Ohio Avenue near the tennis courts.

Sora Mayer is the valedictorian for the New Braunfels High School Class of 2023. Has been a member of the Mighty Unicorn Band during her entire high school career. She was a regional qualifier in the Texas Music Educators Association All-State flute auditions in 2021 and in 2022 advanced to the Area auditions earning a chair in Region Band 1. As a junior she served as section leader and as co-Woodwind Sergeant this past marching season. She received 1st Division honors at UIL State Solo and Ensemble as a junior and qualified to compete at the state level again this year. She was recently awarded the Leonard Bernstein Musicianship Award. She plans to attend the University of Amsterdam to pursue a degree in Linguistics. She is the daughter of Dusty and Heather Mayer. 

Bernice Hoang is one of the co-salutatorians for the New Braunfels High School Class of 2023. She has been an active member of NBHS her entire high school career. She has served in several leadership capacities including Student Council Historian, LEOs Club Treasurer, Cyber Patriots Vice President, Art Club Historian, Math Club member and Magnify Wellness Tech Team member. She also served as a tutor for IELTS International, participated in Girls Who Code her junior year, and participated in the UT Austin Game Development Program. Her honors include being the 2022 UIL Calculator District Champion, NBHS Student of the Month for October 2022, a member of the National Honor Society, NBHS Class of 2023 Outstanding Math Award,  and Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar. She was awarded the UT-Austin Texas Excellence Award, Girls Who Code SIP Grant, Women’s Fellowship Scholarship, ATPE New Braunfels Chapter Future Educator Scholarship, and the Wurstfest Association Scholarship. Her future plants are to attend The University of Texas at Austin with a major in Computer Science. After college, she wants to work in the field of game development. She is the daughter of Nam Hoang and Cam Le.

Gavin Remo is one of the co-salutatorians for the New Braunfels High School Class of 2023. He has been a member of the National Honor Society since 2021 and was a member of the NBHS Tennis Team for the 2019-20 school year.  As a member of the Mighty Unicorns Marching Band, he has served as Drum Major since his junior year. He is also Principal Bassoonist for the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio and does piano studies with concerts at First Protestant Church of New Braunfels. His honors included being named an Area Qualifier for the Texas Music Educators Association from 2020 to 2022, the 2022-2023 Outstanding Instrumentalist, NBHS Student of the Month for October 2022, Arion Award for Music, and Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar with Distinction. He plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin to study Biochemistry and is considering a career in medicine. He is the son of Keith and Julie Remo.
