You can review all benefits offered by NBISD on the Benefits Hub. You will not be able to actually log in to enroll or decline benefits until your hire date.  You are required by the Affordable Care Act to log in within 30 days of employment to enroll or decline benefits for yourself and your eligible dependents.

An employee may be able to enroll for coverage, change plan options, or change the dependents he or she covers during a plan year if the employee or the dependent has a special enrollment event under applicable law.  Changes in employee and/or dependent coverage must be requested within 30 days after the special enrollment event.  If the employee does not request the appropriate changes during the applicable special enrollment period, the changes cannot be made until the next plan enrollment period or, if applicable, until another special enrollment event occurs.  

For most special enrollment events, the effective date of coverage will be the first of the month after the event date.  

What is a special enrollment event?  This is an event, as defined by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which provides a special enrollment period for employees and dependents when there is a loss of other group coverage, such as divorce, death, employment status change (or from loss of other coverage such as employment status change of a spouse or spouse's Open Enrollment).

In order to enroll or cancel health insurance due to a Special Enrollment Event, please email Angela Doyle.  Your request must be in writing.  You must also provide proof of a loss or gain of other coverage such as a letter from employer on company letterhead (emails acceptable) or documentation from either your previous or new medical insurance company listing coverage dates.  The request and proof will need to be received in writing in the month prior to the effective date.  For example, if your insurance is to become effective December 1st, your request to cancel must be placed in November. 

NBISD offers medical coverage for all our employees including substitute employees.  New subs must enroll within their first 30 days of employment, which is the actual first day of work.  Coverage will begin the first day of the month following the date of hire.  If a substitute employee experiences a life event during the plan year, a Special Enrollment will take place (see "Special Enrollment Events" section).

If you would like to withdraw/rollover funds from a 403b account, 457 account, or FICA alternative account, complete these forms and submit it to TCG

All work related injuries should be reported to the direct supervisor, nursing staff, and administrators.  A First Report of Injury must be recorded with Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).  If an employee seeks medical treatment, then a claim will be opened and a TASB claim's adjuster will be assigned.  If you have any questions about work related injuries or worker's compensation, please contact Benefits Specialist, Angela Doyle, at 830-643-5713.
