Home of the New Braunfels Unicorns!
The Mighty Unicorn Band had a strong showing in the audition process for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Band. A total of 19 students earned District Honors and 17 students advanced to the Region Band in the first round of auditions.
On Dec. 5, the Regional auditions were held at Canyon High School with six of the 17 students auditioning advancing to the Area round. The following students will audition for the All-State Band in January (pictured above, left to right): Heather Hippchen, John Armstrong, Nolan Hopkins, Hunter Lightsey, Ryan Reed and Joseph Pickett
“We can’t begin to express how very proud we are of all of our students, and we are particularly proud of the six individuals moving on to Area,” said David Eckert, NBHS Director of Bands.“This year NBHS will send more students to the Area level than we have in the past 12 years. The program is moving in a very positive direction. This is not just a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students, but of the directors as well. We have an amazing staff, and their work is clearly evident.”
The students making Region Band and receiving District honors include:
Jeremy Alkire, Balderama, Ben Borchers, Julian Davidson, Parker Dean, Tanner Dietert, Braden Goebel, Hannah Gonzalez, Dylan Greiner, James Hall, Hayden Hardaway, Hannah Hunter, Nicolas Ibanez, Gavin Remo, Grace Shafer, Tyler Short, Cesar Villalobos, Thomas Zapata and Isabela Zuniga.
