New Braunfels ISD will be accepting applications for a place on the ballot for the upcoming Board of Trustees election on May 2, 2020. The positions that will be considered on the ballot include two (2) positions for single-member District 2 and District 4.
“A Board trustee is a volunteer who must be committed to ensuring the success of every student, every day,” said Randy Moczygemba, NBISD superintendent of schools. “Our Trustees have a very important role in the community and serve in a capacity that is crucial to how successful our youth are and will become.”
The Single-Member District 2 position is currently held by Michael Calta and Single-Member District 4 position is currently held by Matthew Sargent.
Applications will be accepted at the NBISD Administration Building, located at 1000 N. Walnut Avenue, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The only exception to the posted hours for a Friday is on Feb. 14, the last day to file, when the office will be open until 5 p.m. to accept applications.
The NBISD Board of Trustees is comprised of seven members that include five single-member districts and two at-large positions. In order to qualify to file, applicants must live in the single-member district boundary, be a registered voter, and have been a resident of NBISD for the past six months and the state for twelve months. The at-large positions are open to any resident of NBISD that meet the above-named qualifications. Each position will serve a three-year term beginning in May.
A map of the single-member districts is available online at http://www.nbisd.org/page/brd.map. Interested candidates are also encouraged to reference their voter registration card to verify which NBISD single-member district they reside within.
