NBISD approved 2021-2022 Academic Calendar

2021-2022 School Calendar Has Been Adopted

The New Braunfels ISD has approved the 2021-2022 school calendar during their regular monthly meeting held March 8. The calendar includes holidays, early release dates, staff work days and an outline of the grading periods. NBISD will start school on Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, and the last day of school will be Thursday, May 26, 2022.
The nine-week grading period is consistent across all grade levels and campuses again this school year. The nine-week grading periods are as follows: Aug. 23-Oct. 15; Oct. 19-Dec. 17; Jan. 4 – March 11; and March 21-May 26.
The district will also observe the following student and staff holidays: Labor Day (Sept. 6); Comal County Fair Day (Sept. 24); Thanksgiving Break (Nov. 22-26), Winter Break (Dec. 20-Dec. 31); Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan. 17); President’s Day (Feb. 21); Spring Break (March 14-18); Good Friday (April 15); and Easter Monday (April 18). Additionally, the following days will be Student Holidays and Staff Work Days - Monday, Oct. 18 and Monday, Jan. 3.
The calendar includes early release dates for all grade levels on Dec. 17 and May 26 at the end of both semesters. On these two dates students will be released 90 minutes early and buses will run 90 minutes early. This year three additional early release days for staff development will occur on Wednesday, Oct. 27, Friday, Jan. 14 and Wednesday, March 30. On these three early release days for staff development students will be released 2 hours and 30 minutes early. Buses will also deliver students home 2 hours and 30 minutes earlier than normal.
“This calendar was created with input from District Education Improvement Committee (DEIC) representatives that includes teachers, parents, community and business members,” said Kara Bock, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction. “We did not have to add any minutes to the school day next year. The length of the school day will remain the same at 450 minutes.”
