Marty Lenard named Fine Arts Director

The NBISD Administration has named Dr. Marty Lenard as the district’s first-ever Director of Fine Arts. In this position, he will direct and manage the fine arts programs for the district. Lenard will start his new role with NBISD on July 1, 2022.

"I am beyond thrilled to be a part of the New Braunfels ISD community,” said Lenard. ”New Braunfels has a long history of supporting the fine arts and I am honored to serve in the Director of Fine Arts role to continue this legacy."

Lenard has been in education for the past 11 years. He began his career as a band director for Kerrville ISD (KISD). In 2017, he began working as an assistant professor of Music at Schreiner University and was the Director of Music and Theater Department. For the past year, he has worked for Comal ISD as the Fine Arts Coordinator.

Lenard has a bachelor’s degree in Music and master’s degree in Music Education from Texas State University. He earned a master’s degree in Education Administration with a Principal Certification from Lamar University. Last year, he completed his doctorate in Instrumental Music Education from Auburn University.

During his career, he has served on various committees including the KISD Long-range Facilities Planning Committee, the KISD Community Facilities Advisory Board, Kerrville 2050 Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee and the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Kerrville. In addition, he served as School Board Trustee for Kerrville ISD from 2018-2021.

His honors and awards include being named “40 Under 40” by the Kerr Economic Development Corporation, Faculty Award for Excellence in Service from Schreiner University, and a semi-finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Award.

Lenard is a frequent presenter at state and regional conferences. He is a member of several organizations including the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Association of Music Schools, Texas Jazz Educators Association, and Phi Delta Kappa International.

"Fine Arts has a special place in our public schools here in Texas. It provides a chance for any student to explore their imagination and learn skill sets that are applicable for future careers. I look forward to working with our teachers and community members to provide meaningful experiences for our students," Lenard added.
