Three NBHS student-athletes sign National Letters of Intent

Signing day was held on nov. 9 2022 at NBHS

New Braunfels High School had three student-athletes sign National Letters of Intent (NLI) on fall signing day, Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022. The signing-day event was held in the NBHS gym, where family and friends gathered to watch Randi Rush, Ella Vajdos and Lily Warren commit to play at the next level. 

Randi Rush
Randi Rush of the Unicorn Volleyball Team is headed to the Pacific Northwest as she signed her NLI to play for the University of Puget Sound, which is located in Tacoma, Washington. The Loggers compete in NCAA Division III in the Northwest Conference, in which the team won the conference title in 2022. Rush will be attending Puget Sound on an academic scholarship as Division III schools do not award scholarships for athletics. Rush was a 3-year varsity volleyball player in Unicorn Country. During that time she was named a 3-time Academic All-District performer. She also was named 1st team all district in 2021 and 2nd team all district in 2022; she was named to the 2022 AVCA All-Region Team and the 2022 1st team AVCA best and brightest. In addition, during her senior year, she was 1st team Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State. Rush is the daughter of Michael and Kristin Rush.

Ella Vajdos
Ella Vajdos is a pole vaulter on the Unicorn Track and Field team, and she has set the bar high, breaking the Unicorn pole vaulting record during her high school career with a height of 13’3.5. She will be attending Texas A&M University on an athletic scholarship. The Aggies compete in NCAA Division I within the Southeastern Conference. As a junior in the 2021-22 season, Vajdos won the bronze medal at the Class 6A UIL State Track and Field Meet. She also has been awarded the NBHS Track team state award for 2022, and she was a district champion during her sophomore and junior years. Additionally, Vajdos competed on the Unicorn Volleyball team which won the district championship earlier this year. As a junior, she was named to the all-district 2nd team, while she earned 1st team honors in 2022. Vajdos also performed well in the classroom, being named academic all district in 2021 and 2022. She is the daughter of Caressa and Brian Vajdos.

Lily Warren
Lily Warren, a Unicorn Softball player, signed an athletic and academic scholarship with Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Henderson State is a Division II university that competes in the Great American Conference. As a Unicorn, Warren was a 4-year varsity letter winner in softball, and she has been named a Top Texas High School Softball Player for 2023 by Lone Star Preps. She also has earned a player of the game award from Max Preps. In her sophomore season, she earned 2nd team all-district honors as well as being named to the academic all-district team. In her junior season, she was 1st team all-district on the field as an outfielder and academic all-district in the classroom. Warren was named to the all tournament team at the 2022 Canyon/Steele Classic. She also competed in volleyball as a freshman on a team that won a share of the district title. She is the daughter of Ashley and Jack Warren.
