2020-2021 NBHS Students of the Month
Outstanding students from New Braunfels High School are honored as the Students of the Month and recognized at the monthly board meeting.
NBHS Student of the Month for February 2021 Jordyn Hofmann honored at the February 8, 2021 regular Board meeting.
Jordyn Hofmann is a senior and has attended NBHS for all four years. She is a three-year varsity girls basketball player, and was captain of the basketball team during the 2019-2020 school year as well as a member of HOSA during the 2018-2019 school year. Outside of school, she participates in select basketball through CTX Kanes and trains in weightlifting and strength and conditioning. Jordyn has volunteered with several nonprofits in the local area to include the Food Bank, the Humane Society, the Heart of Hope at Oakwood Church and has been a volunteer coach for middle school students at the McKenna Center. Her future plans include playing women’s basketball with the University of Texas at Dallas and pursuing a degree in either the medical or criminal justice field. She is the daughter of Michael Hofmann, Shanna Halteman & Kelly Halteman.
NBHS Student of the Month for February 2021 Liam Domer honored at the February 8, 2021 regular Board meeting.
Liam Domer is a senior and has attended NBHS all four years. During his time at NBHS, he has been a member of the Unicorn swim team all four years and lettered three of the four, as well as qualified for district three years in a row and qualified for regional one year. He participated in the New Braunfels Police Department Explorers Group where he acquired the rank of squad leader. In addition, he has been involved with SkillsUSA where he won gold medals in regional two consecutive years and participated in the state competition. Liam also volunteers with the Food Bank and is a member of St. James Catholic Church. His future plans include attending a four-year college with an Army ROTC program. Upon completion, Domer plans to enlist in the United States Army and pursue a career in military intelligence. After his military career, he intends to join law enforcement at the federal level. He is the son of Bill and Dottie Domer.
Dana Hanson is a senior and has attended NBHS for all four years. She is a four-year varsity soccer player, part of NB Ajax Soccer Club and the Rise Soccer Club Girls Academy. In addition, she was part of the Olympic Development Regional Team Selection as well as International Travel Team Selection in 2019 and was named an AP Scholar with Distinction. She is a Unicorn Handler, a member of National Honor Society and the Principal’s Advisory Committee. She also serves as a Rotary Youth Leadership Participant, is one of the Leaders of NBGS Bible Study, a Humane Society Volunteer and a NB Youth Soccer RecPlus Volunteer Coach. She plans to attend Sam Houston State University to major in Business Marketing, with a minor in Spanish while participating in the Honors College and furthering her soccer career. After college, she plans to have a career in Sports Management/PR in a job that allows her to travel. She is the daughter of Jenifer Hanson.
NBHS Student of the Month for January 2021 Dana Hanson honored at the January 11, 2021 regular Board meeting.
Matthew Alkire is a senior and has attended NBHS all four years. During his time at NBHS, he has been a UIL Academics competitor, the Leo’s Club Secretary as a freshman, in HOSA Club sophomore through senior year and served as Vice President as a junior and Treasurer as a senior. He has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years where he currently serves as Secretary. He is a National AP Scholar and has earned National Merit Commended Scholar. His future plans include attending University of Texas at Austin or an out of state school to major in Biochemistry and pursue a career in the medical field. He is the son of John and Jennifer Alkire.
NBHS Student of the Month for January 2021 Matthew Alkire honored at the January 11, 2021 regular Board meeting.
Ana Elisa Quinonez is a senior and has attended NBHS all four years. During those four years, she has participated in Track and Field, been a Unicorn Handler, is a two-year member of Health Occupations Students of America, a member of Math Club and serves as secretary of the National Honor Society. Outside of school, she has been a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church youth ministry program for middle school students and a Lector at Spanish masses. She has volunteered with the New Braunfels Food Bank and participated in Relay for Life as a member of the Interact Club. She has also been a part-time cashier with H-E-B. Quinonez plans to study International Business in college while studying abroad. She is the daughter of Julio and Elvira Quionez.
NBHS Student of the Month for December 2020 Ana Elisa Quinonez honored at the December 14, 2020, regular Board meeting.
Phoenix Mantooth is a senior and has attended NBHS for all four years. He has been involved in the JROTC program where in his junior year he obtained the officer position of Cadet Second Lieutenant. During his senior year, he was named Cadet Lieutenant Colonel as well as the Battalion Commander. Phoenix is also involved in NHS and Blue Crew. During his years at NBHS he has been involved in Interact Club and Student Council. Through his involvement in these and JROTC, has acquired more than 300 community service hours. Mantooth plans to attend A&M University to study Statistics and Government. He is the son of Kelli Mantooth and Thomas Solitner.

Celine Erkan is a NBHS senior and has attended for all four years. Celine’s goal in life is to help people. She believes that pursuing a degree in law is the best way to do just that. She would like to attend, University of Texas at Austin, Duke or Yale. Celine is the daughter of Taylor and Michelle Cunningham.
NBHS Student of the Month for November 2020 Celine Erkan honored at the November 9, 2020, regular Board meeting.
Zane Sanchez is a NBHS senior and has attended for all four years. He has been involved in football, track and Young Life. Zane’s future plans are to attend Midland University to study Kinesiology. He also plans to become a great powerlifter and open his own gym in town. Zane is the son of Teresa Castro.

Claire Nelson is a senior at NBHS but has only been a Unicorn since 2019. She is currently enrolled in health endorsement classes with plans to pursue a career in the medical field. She attends the River City Church with her family and spends her first period of each day as an office aide. She has enjoyed her experience with the faculty and staff of NBHS. Her future plans are to attend nursing school in Texas because she would like to stay close to her family and looks forward to all the opportunities the world has to offer. She is the daughter of Kristin and Eric Nelson.
NBHS Student of the Month for October 2020 Claire Nelson honored at the October 12, 2020, regular Board meeting.
James "Jase" Boyd is a senior at NBHS and has attended NBISD the last four years. He has played tennis for three year and is a part of the school’s Blue Crew. He is also serving on the New Braunfels Wyldlife team, a ministry designed to pair high school students with middle school students to provide friendship and a relationship with Christ, and serves in the children’s program at The Springs Community Church. His future plans are to attend the University of Arkansas and pursue a career in Education. He is the son of Robert and Kelli Boyd.
NBHS Student of the Month for October 2020 James "Jase" Boyd honored at the October 12, 2020, regular Board meeting.
Grant Jacobs is a senior at NBHS and has attended NBISD the past four years. He has been a Unicorn his whole life. At NBHS, he is a member of the National Honor Society. Not only does he play basketball with the Unicorns, he is also a club basketball player. His future plans are to play basketball in college and study engineering or business. He is the son of Steve and Nika Jacobs.

Shelby A. Shelton has attended NBHS her entire high school career. She participates in Color Guard and is a member of the NBHS Choir. Outside of school, she is involved with St. Peter & Paul Church Youth Group and Relay for Life. Her future plans include attending San Antonio College to study Photography. She is the daughter of Brian and Michele A. Shelton.
