Ambassador Program

*** IMPORTANT NOTICE ***

Due to COVID-19, we have opted to suspend this program for the 2020-2021 School Year. Thank you for your interest in serving in this role. Applications will open up in Summer 2021.

The Purpose

The purpose of the New Braunfels Independent School District Ambassador Program is to gain a deeper understanding of the day-to-day operations of the school district. Individuals who complete this program become NBISD ambassadors in the community, which leads to better communication and understanding of the New Braunfels Independent School District. This program includes information on leadership, communications, strategic direction, educational programs, student services, technology, human resources, facilities, operations and school finance.

Ambassadors will be prepared to become district advocates and help educate the community on lesser known aspects of how public schools function and operate as well as providing information on the unique needs of a fast-growing district and share accomplishments and positive news about the campuses.

  • Applications will be posted in Summer 2021
  • The application period is now closed for the next class of Ambassadors. Please check back in August for the next application period.

  • HOW OFTEN WILL THE PROGRAM BE HELD?

The intent is to hold one group each school year. The sessions will begin in the fall and end the following summer.

HOW LARGE IS EACH CLASS EXPECTED TO BE?

The plan is to select a group of 25 with five members from each of the five single-member districts that make up the school district.

WHO IS THE IDEAL APPLICANT FOR THE AMBASSADOR PROGRAM?

Any NBISD resident that wants to get a deeper dive into the operations of the school district. We encourage residents that do not have school-age children to apply as well.

WHAT DOES THE DISTRICT HOPE TO GET OUT OF THE PROGRAM?

NBISD sees the ambassador program as a positive outlet for community members to get an inside look into how NBISD operates, how students are learning, what challenges we are facing and how to get involved.

WHAT ROLE DO AMBASSADORS PLAY AFTER GRADUATING?

NBISD keeps them up to date with a monthly email about what is happening in the district. This allows the Ambassadors to have first-hand information that can be share among their circle of influence.  Ambassadors are also invited to the district's special events and encouraged to attend Board meetings, school events and volunteer in the schools. Each graduate receives a polo that they can wear to events which distinguishes them as an Ambassador.
