NEW STUDENTS: K - 12th Grade

Parents of NEW students will be required to complete the following steps to register for the 2024-25 school year through ASCENDER Parent Portal. You can do this from any device with internet access.

Step-by-Step Guide for New Students

TO REGISTER:

STEP 1: Verify that you have the following documents prior to enrolling:

• Parent Identification
• Government-issued Birth Certificate of Child (Kindergarteners must be age 5 as of September 1, 2024)
• Child’s Social Security Card, if available
• Immunization Record (must be up-to-date)
• Proof of Residency (current water, gas, electric bill, or lease agreement)

STEP 2: Complete enrollment process online AT HOME through THE Ascender Parent Portal 

STEP 3: ONCE YOU'VE COMPLETED THE ONLINE PORTION OF ENROLLMENT, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR CAMPUS TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR VERIFICATION. CAMPUSES WILL BEGIN SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS IN AUGUST.

If your family is residing with another NBISD resident, a Residency Form will need to be completed. The Residency Forms are available in our Student Services department.

Registration for returning students will be conducted through the Ascender portal. Returning students are required to upload current Proof of Residency documents, which must be dated within the last 60 days, to finalize their registration. This step will also be required for returning students who registered early.
Proof of Residency documents accepted include:

• NBU bill
• CenterPoint Energy bill
• GVEC or CPS bill
• Lease Agreement (listing all occupants)
• Mortgage Agreement
• Notarized letter from landlord (listing all occupants)
